Cracked Monster Party #22, Winter 1993
w: Andrew Osborne
a: Walter Brogan
Dating game show in the 90s hosted by Mark DeCarlo, similar to The Dating Game except it took place after the date and it was unchaperoned. It was also much raunchier and innuendo-ridden with them rating each other on the sex.
This version, being from Cracked's spinoff, starred all horror characters and was hosted by Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) from Silence of the Lambs.
A sponsor for the show in most outlets was 1-900 numbers, phone sex services where you would pay by the minute to to to someone, a predecessor to Pornhub only with audio instead of video.
One of the female contestants here is Mina Harker, a character played by Winona Ryder in what was then the most recent adaptation, though it doesn't seem to resemble her. The male contestants are Freddy Krueger of Nightmare on Elm Street, Jason Voorhees of the Friday the 13th franchise, and Bram Stoker's Dracula, which was directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Kathy Najimy, Bette Midler and Sara Jessica Parker of Hocus Pocus also seem to be bachelorettes.
1-900 numbers weren't just used for sex. There was also LaToya Jackson's Psychic Hotline.
Studs was parodied on The Simpsons and The Ben Stiller Show.
A-Z GUIDE TO MOVIES AND TV SHOWS PARODIED BY MAD, CRACKED, CRAZY, ETC. UP TO 1996. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS. SPOILERS AND OTHER NON-SEQUITURS, TOO. SOMETIMES THESE THINGS HAVE WORDS OR SITUATIONS WE DON'T USE ANYMORE. YOU KNOW, 'CAUSE THEY'RE OLD.

THE DONKEES
THE MONKEES
1966-1968 NBC
THE DONKEES
Cracked #230, September 1987
w: Charles Hall
a: John Severin The Monkees, a 60s boy band gone rogue, were Michael Nesmith, Davey Jones, Mickey Dolenz, and Peter Tork. Julie Newmar, most known for her role as Catwoman, was in one episode (see below). The song being parodied here is 'Daydream Believer'. There was an attempt at bringing them back with a new cast. The New Monkees (see also below) didn't last as long. Nesmith's mother was the inventot of Liquid Paper.
THE MONKEEYS
Sick #63, November 1968
w: Calvin Castine
a: Bill Robinson
Monkees head writers Gerald Gardner and Dee Caruso (who also wrote for Get Smart) also wrote for Sick. 'Last Train to Clarksville'. 'I'm Not Your Stepping Stone', 'I'm a Believer', and 'Pleasant Valley Sunday' were Monkees songs. MAD artist Jack Davis did ads for the show for TV Guide. As well as the cover for a cash-in book. The Ben Stiller Show parodied them, updating them for the grunge scene of the nineties.

SMELLGROSS PLACE
MELROSE PLACE
1992-1999 FOX
SMELLGROSS PLACE
MAD #317, March 1993
w: Dick DeBartolo
a: Mort Drucker
This was a TV series spun off from Beverly Hills 90210, like that show but everyone was about ten to fifteen years older, about the tenants of an apartment complex on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. The cast at this point was Billy (Andrew Shue), Allison (Courtney Thorne-Smith), Michael (Thomas Calabro), Jane (Josie Bissett), Matt (Doug Savant), Sandy (Amy Locane), Jake (Grant Show), and Rhonda (Vanessa Williams). Kelly (Jennie Garth) from 90210 was the connection between the two shows. The joke about politics is that they only talk about political events that involve sex scandals. I'm not sure about the Megan Louise gag except presumably she was a granddaughter of Mort Drucker? In the corner in the last panel is creater Darren Starr. YOUR LIFE VS LIFE ON MELROSE PLACE/90210
MAD #340, October 1995
w: Lori Kolman
a: Mort Drucker
In that second panel of the first gag is Jason Priestley of 90210. In the last panel is Luke Perry of 90210. The judge in “Sue your parents” is Lance Ito, the judge for the O. J. Simpson trial. SMELROSE PLACE
Cracked #278, January 1993
w: Vic Bianco (Lou Silverstone)
a: John Severin
The other characters in the pool are Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams of Laverne and Shirley, John Ritter, Joyce DeWitt and Suzanne Somers of Three's Company, The Fonz, Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, and Shannen Doherty of Beverly Hills 90210, Bill and Ted from their eponymous Excellent Adventure, Mike Myers & Dana Carvey of Wayne's World, and Joe Gillis from Sunset Boulevard (William Holden).

The Ben Stiller Show had a recurring bit parodying this show combined with Beverly Hills 90210. I posted the other one they did when I posted versions of that show. Here's this one.

THE UNSTABLE GUY
THE CABLE GUY (1996)
dir: Ben Stiller
THE UNSTABLE GUY
Cracked #311, October 1996
w: Andy Simmons & Rob Weske
a: Frank Cummings
The premise of this was that Steven Kovacs (Matthew Broderick) moves into a new apartment after breaking up with his girlfriend, and after slipping his cable guy Chip Douglas (Jim Carrey) extra money to get pay channels, Chip decides Steven is now his friend for life. This spoof also parodies three other movies from that year that would eventually have been on cable, Eraser, Striptease, and Twister.
Eraser was an action film with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Chip takes Steven to a satellite dish out in the country that's apparently the master dish to all the cable of the world. Here it is a literal food dish, and they use it to make fat jokes about Louie Anderson. Striptease was a movie with Demi Moore about just that. LaToya Jackson did infomercials for a psychic hotline.
Chip takes Steven to the Medieval Times chain restaurant where they end up jousting and Chip later shows up when Steven and his friends are playing basketball, inviting himself into the game and taking it too seriously, being violent and embarrassing Steven.
Chip tries to make things right as Steven tries to reconcile with his girlfriend Robin (Leslie Mann), hooking him up with a cable channel showing Sleepless in Seattle. Here it's Twister, a disaster movie about a tornado starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton. The cause of the tornado in Twister turns out to be The Mask, another Jim Carrey movie. In The Cable Guy, Chip has become friends with Robin separately, and when Steven and Robin go to see his parents, Robin has invited Chip along, and he hits it off with Steven's family, who all ignore Steven's claims that Chip is a psycho. There's a suplot they don't use here where you see on TV throughout the movie—a trial of child star Sam Sweet (Ben Stiller) that mirrors the Menendez brothers trial that was going on then. Similar to a sketch Stiller would have done on his sketch comedy show a few years earlier. (His whole cast has bit parts in other scenes). Chip has kidnaped Robin and brought her to the master satellite and Steven goes to save her. At the same time, the world is fixated on their TVs watching the Sweet trials and at the exact moment everyone is about to hear the verdict, Chip plummets down and knocks the cable out everywhere.

BEVERLY HILLS 90210
1990-2000 FOX
BEVERLY HILLS 911
MAD #309, March 1992
w: Dennis Snee
a: Mort Drucker
Introduction to Brendon and Brenda Walsh (Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty), Dylan McKay (Luke Perry), Jim Walsh (James Eckhouse), Cindy Walsh (Carol Potter), Donna (Tori Spelling), Kelly (Jennie Garth) and Steve (Ian Ziering). Not named are Andrea (Gabrielle Carteris) and David (Brian Austin Green). All of them (minus the Walsh parents) are students at West Beverly High Schvool. The premise of the show initially was that the Walsh family had just moved to Beverly Hills and every week dealt with different issues faced by teenagers. The father was a rich accountant but managed to always be home. The setting gave the show the ability to cover social issues within the context of the shallowness of Beverly Hills Students. Brenda dated Dylan off-and-on. They all dated in some combination in their ten-year run, and David, even though a background character, was the only one to last through the show's ten-year run. At an assembly it is announced Brandon and Brenda will be leaving Beverly Hills.
(Robin Leach was a TV host in the 1980s with a show called Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous that showcase celebrities' mansions.)
The Walshes are moving to Palm Beach. Brenda sees that social justice would be even more difficult down there. BARFERLY HILLS-911
Cracked #270, March 1992
w: Lou Silverstone
a: John Severin
This version also parodies the show's problem of the week format.
(Also on the beach are Lloyd Bridges of Sea Hunt and Peter Falk of Columbo). Brandon is asked to run for Class President and they need an issue to run on. The third problem is that Kelly's mother was dating David's mother but then realized he and the mother had more in common, making the two students now mother and father.
Brandon won the election but now there's bad news at home. The Ben Stiller Show did a take back then. That cast is still around. Boy, did they look young.
UPDATE: This was the back cover for Cracked #276, November 1992. This is only three weeks from now. Luke Perry is no longer with us. Gabrielle Carteris is now President of the Screen Actors' Guild. In the background on the right is artist Jeff Wong. On the left is a mutual acquaintance I played a practical joke on 30 years ago, making it look like he wrote a threatening letter to the president. It's been exaggerated over time by word of mouth and it's entirely on me, but what it comes down to is we were both visited by the Secret Service whose sole motive was to scare us, which they did. I'm told what I did isn't so bad, just that I did it to someone capable of making a comic about it. He printed my address and phone number so I feel that makes us even, it's all water under the bridge to me, but I'm sure he sees it differently. From what I've heard, he still holds a grudge against me thirty years later.
