THE PEOPLE'S COURTROOM

THE PEOPLE'S COURT 1981-1993

THE PEOPLE'S COURTROOM
Cracked #195, July 1983
a: Bill Ward

Daytime courtroom drama that differed from other coutroom dramas in that it was a reality show, with an actual case tried on television in a TV courtroom presided by a real judge. The names and likenesses aren't used here in the Cracked parody but are in the Bananas one following it.
In every courtroom spoof, or every comic with a gavel for that matter, the gavel is always used to crack walnuts.

The show was hosted and narrated by Doug Llewellyn, and the cases were presided over by Joseph Wapner, a real judge.
The jury and audience are made up of people in costumes as if this is a game show like Let's Make a Deal.

FAMILY FOOLS

FAMILY FEUD
1976-1985 SYNDICATED

FAMILY FOOLS
MAD #229, March 1982
w: Dick Bic (Dick DeBartolo)
a: Angelo Torres

Dick DeBartolo also wrote for game shows produced by Family Feud producers Goodson-Todman, and felt writing this would be a conflict of interest, so wrote this pseudonymously.

Family Feud has gone through countless incarnations throughout the years. The basic premise is the contestants competing are two families. The version being spoofed here is the first one hosted by Richard Dawson.

Dawson's schtick on the show was kissing the female contestants, a move today that would be considered sexual assault.
The questions asked of each contestant were based on a survey by the audience taken previously.
Rickshaws are a product of China. Duh.
All-Star, later Celebrity Family Feud was a series of prime-time specials that pitted casts on television programs against each other.
-Dawson had previously been a cast member on the sitcom Hogan's Heroes fifteen years earlier.
-Commercials for Sanka Coffee with Robert Young were ubiquitous.
