JUNE UPDATES 2: PARODY MAGAZINE #3

Sadly, this blog on a daily basis will come to a close the end of this month. I'm doing most of it in alphabetical order now, but as I mention in the sidebar, I still have holes to fill, so I'll always come back for that, and things always stay on the internet, but here are a few more things I've filled in. Thanks again to Chris Ekman, who has most of them.

I don't feel the need to summarize everything so I'll just make the titles highlighted in orange (or underlined or whatever settings you have for links) link to previous parody posts that have texts about them and what the characters' real names are. Spoof they did of the show prior to the one I posted before.

“Media Watch” was one of their segments where viewers would send in funny newspaper and magazine articles. “Red Faces” was parodied before.

“Chook Lotto” was their version of a Lotto draw with the numbers placed on live chickens instead of something like ping pong balls, and the winner was presented a Toyota from dealer Ken Morgon.

Jackie McDonald was later co-host of the show.

Jack Paar was one of the first talk show hosts. I can only identify a few of the caricatures here, and after more are pointed out, I'll realize what I forgot. Right now all I can point out are Boris Karloff, Charley Weaver, Jonathan Winters, Wally Cox, Elsa Maxwell, Mort Sahl, Ed Sullivan.

Sonny and Cher Bono were a pop duo that had a comedy/variety show in the mid-70's.

“The Beat Goes On” was their big hit and the theme song for their show.

Caricature of James Franciscus as Longstreet, blind TV detective. The Smothers Brothers credited as writers is a joke here, but the show did share some of the same little-known writers such as Steve Martin and Bob Einstein.
