BATSMAN: THE ANEMIC SERIES

BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES

BATSMAN: THE ANEMIC SERIES

The very last of the Batman parodies. I promise. Except maybe if somebody mentions something I should include in an update of previous entries.

Part of the Batman juggernaut, an afternoon series created by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini influenced more by the movies about the creature of the night than the daytime do-gooder most people knew.

Unlike other versions, this one includes Joker (Mark Hamill), Penguin (Paul Williams), Riddler (John Glover), Catwoman (Adrienne Barbeau), Scarecrow (Henry Polic II), Two Face (Richard Moll), Poison Ivy (Diane Pershing), and the Mad Hatter (Roddy McDowall) all together in the splash panel as Commissioner Gordon (Bob Hastings) confers with Batman (Kevin Conroy) and Robin (Loren Lester).
It also has more Bat-items and relies on the reader being familiar with the Batman mythos, which I'm sure you are too, so not many annotations are necessary.
I worked in animation for a couple years, I can attest to censors objecting to what's known as “imitative behavior”.
In a gag that's been repeated many times and probably originated with the short Duck Amuck, it turns out all along the cartoon as been drawn as revenge by one of the other characters in their universe.
UPDATE:
Cover to the Brazilian edition of MAD.
The Mexican edition. MAD parodied the Dick Tracy movie around the same time.
