We had a show in the nineties called A Current Affair, so did they, tabloid journalism that evolved into shows like Inside Edition and FOX News. Theirs still exists and has its own web page.
They've had a series of revolving hosts over time. The one they had then was Jana Wendt. Mike Willesee was the original.

Meanwhile. We had ours over here with Maury Povich, who later went on to do a daytime talk show dedicated to giving paternity tests. Rob Lowe was involved in a sex scandal with underaged girls and Donald Trump was a New York millionaire caught cheating on his wife with a woman who would become his second wife. I'm not sure what became of him.

Stop! was a free black and white newsprint, and later slick magazine from a bunch of New York cartoonists, some of whom were part of the original wave of punk and later went on to publications such as Weirdo and High Times. Unlike other parodies of daytime soaps that made fun of the genre in general, this seemed to be mock specific actors and plotlines. Most of the contributors to Stop made cameo appearances, and are credited at the end, though I didn't tag everyone.
The show took place in Pine Valley, PA. Since many episodes only aired once, I've tried my best to get information on them, including what was given to me by humor magazine fan Chris Ekman.
Characters here are Palmer Cortlandt (James Mitchell) and his attorney Steve Jacobi (Dack Rambo). Palmer's daughter is Nina Cortlandt (Taylor Miller). She was married to Dr. Cliff Warner (Peter Bergman) who left him for Devon McFadden (Tricia Pursley)
Jenny Gardner (Kim Delaney) was killed, leaving Greg Nelson (Laurence Lau) a widower, and before that was engaged to Tony Barclay (Brant Barrett). Devon nearly had an affair with Lynn Carson .
The man in the bottom middle panel is drawn by J. D. King.
The breakout star was Suan Lucci, who as Erica Kane, made news outside the soap world (soap bubble?) for having been on the show since the beginning and never won an Emmy. Mike Roy (Nicholas Surovy) was one of her many husbands. Tad Martin (Michael E. Knight) had an affair with Liza Colby (Marcy Walker).

Daisy Cortlandt (Gillian Spencer) was presumed dead but returned to reconnect with her daughter as Monique Jonvil. Lars Bogard was the father of Kent Bogard, someone who was killed by Erica Kane. Harold Loomis (Thomas Sminkey) was a lover of Brooke English (Julia Barr), who was married to Tom Cudahy (Richard Shoberg). Langley Wallingford (Louis Edmonds) was married to Phoebe Tyler (Ruth Warrick), Grandmother-in-law of Donna Beck (Candice Earley).
Donna was married to Chuck Tyler (Richard Van Vleet). Opal Gardner ran the boutique.
The EPT commercial was drawn by Ken Weiner.
Jessie Hubbard (Darnell Williams) was the town chief of police. Alfred Vanderpool (Bill Timoney) was a banker and Ray Gardner (Gil Rogers) came back from the dead.

There is an Australian version of the MTV network, though when it started out it was a television program. It was hosted by Richard Wilkins and Alison Drower.
Jimmy Barnes, Peter Garrett Of Midnight Oil, and James Reyne are parodied here.

Back in the U.S., another parody from back when MTV showed music videos and had VJs. At this time one was Kevin Seal.
This doesn't quite fit the meter of the song, but that's not the first thing to stand out in criticizing this article.
The Pepsi commercial above was pulled for being too controversial and she holds a grudge to this day. Michael Jackson doing a commercial for them made news when his hair caught fire during a shoot. The news segments were done by Kurt Loder.
Exxon's oil spill was the first major tanker crash to make news.
HEY HEY DOES IT MATTER DAY

Spoof they did of the show prior to the one I posted before.
“Media Watch” was one of their segments where viewers would send in funny newspaper and magazine articles. “Red Faces” was parodied before.
“Chook Lotto” was their version of a Lotto draw with the numbers placed on live chickens instead of something like ping pong balls, and the winner was presented a Toyota from dealer Ken Morgon.

Jack Paar was one of the first talk show hosts. I can only identify a few of the caricatures here, and after more are pointed out, I'll realize what I forgot. Right now all I can point out are Boris Karloff, Charley Weaver, Jonathan Winters, Wally Cox, Elsa Maxwell, Mort Sahl, Ed Sullivan.
