Movie about a summer camp where there's a bet between two teenage girls, Ferris (Tatum O'Neal) and Angel (Kristy McNichol), on who will lose their virginity first. Ferris is the rich one and Angel is the tough one of the single mother on the proverbial wrong side of the tracks.
Ferris and Angel immediately hate each other. Cinder (Krista Errickson), is an actress who initiates the bet. The camp has the other archetypes Dana (Alexa Kenin), Chubby (Abby Bluestone), Sunshine (Cynthia Nixon), and Carrots (Simone Schachter).
Gary (Armand Assante) is the camp's lifeguard and a French teacher Ferris has her sights on. Randy (Matt Dillon) is another streetwise tough kid Angel plans to hook up with. Angel just wants to get it over with with while Ferris intends to fall in love, but it ends up being the reverse.
At visiting day are Tatum O'Neal's father Ryan and Kristy McNichol's brother Jimmy. Ferris' ploy to get Gary is to pretend to drown.
It isn't shown but Angel and Ferris end up not going through with having sex and end up becoming friends. At the end are caricatures of Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland, often paired together in Andy Hardy movies.
And as they often did, a few issues later they had the response from a celebrity who was probably hired to appear in the letters page.
