Completely without dialog, this French-Canadian film takes place 80,000 years ago.
Since the film is without dialogue, I don't know how anyone known the names of the characters. Nevertheless, I will use the names that were provided in the Wikipedia description so we know what's going on.
The Ulam tribe uses fire for many purposes, until their master flame is extinguished and stolen during a battle with the Wagabu tribe.
They do not know how to recreate the fire, so it is up to Noah (Everett McGill), Amoukar (Ron Perlman), and Gaw (Nameer El-Kadi) to go out and find new fire. Along the way, they are chased up a tree by saber-tooth tigers.
While in the tree, the three cavemen see smoke in the distance and follow it, seeing the remains of a meal which they feast on until they find it is human flesh from the Kzammaa tribe. They discover Kzammas further on and plan to distract them while they steal their fire.
Not shown is the Ulam saving Ika (Rae Dawn Chong) from captivity and saving them all by fending off some wooly mammoths.
Naoh splits from his two partners, then almost drowns in quicksand, but is captured by the Ivaka, Ika's tribe. She begs them to be lenient on him after he goes through a mating ritual with a few of their tribeswomen (again not shown) and he's reunited with the other two Ulam. The Ivaka teach their knowledge of fire-making and Ika sneaks away, joining the returning Ulam and taking charge.
