REMINGTON STEELE
1982-1987 NBC
REMINGTON STEAL
MAD #248, July 1984
w: Lou Silverstone
a: Angelo Torres
The concept of the show is that Laura Holt (Stephanie Zimbalist) is a real detetective with no credibility with her detective agency because she is a woman, so has made up a person named Remington Steele as the supposed head of the agency, and the man she's hired to play him (Pierce Brosnan) assumes credit. The two have a flirty relationship.
Mildred (Doris Roberts) was the receptionist.
REMINGTON SQUEELE
Bananas #69, c. 1983
w: Jovial Bob Stine
a: Samuel B. Whitehead
Murphy Michaels (James Read) only appeared in the first season. I believe they are referring to Mr. Smith, the short-lived series about a talking orangutan.

ReplyDeleteNot to actually you but she didn't hire him. He just showed up and said he was Remington Steele.
The Bananas parody was referring to Mr. Smith the orangutan (who shows up in the MAD parody (next to last page, next to last panel).
