Mark Kaminski (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has finished doing a job as a sheriff and goes home to his wife (Blanche Baker) who's miserable about how he was once an FBI special agent but was fired and their life has been reduced to this. But Harry Shannon (Darren McGavin), his former FBI boss puts him back on to avenge the mob who killed his son.

The government is investigating Luigi Patrovita (Sam Wanamaker). It is he and Martin “The Hammer” Lamanski (Stephen Hill) that offed Harry Shannon's son and Kaminski infiltrates their organization as Joseph Brenner. He meets The Hammer's gilfriend Monique (Kathryn Harrold) and hijacks her limo.

The last panel has Schwarzenegger's real wife Maria Shriver.
