BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY
1979-1981 NBC
BAKE ROACHES IN THE TUTTI-FRUTTI CENTURY
Crazy #65, August 1980

Though actually a TV series the pilot was rushed out to theaters the season before to cash in on the success of the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises. Aired during the year NBC was at its all-time lowest in the ratings and the network used Gary Coleman any chance they could.
Buck (Gil Gerard) was a space captain who found himself unfrozen five hundred years later, still under military command, and trying to fit in with the future world. His “will they or won't they” counterpart was Colonel Deering (Erin Gray) and companions were a robot named Twiki (played by Felix Silla, voiced by Mel Blanc) and Dr. Theopolis, a computer Twiki wore around his neck. Buck and Derring's supervisor was Dr. Huer (Tim O'Connor).
The leader of the enemy planet, Princess Ardala (Pamela Hensley) was in love with him. He often had to get past her bodyguard Tigerman (H. B. Haggerty)
Based on a merchandising juggernaut that existed in the thirties.
