SICKE/R

E/R
1994-2009 NBC

SICKE/R
MAD #336, June 1995
w: Dick DeBartolo
a: Mort Drucker

Since this show was on so long, it's surprising Cracked didn't also parody it (at least in my time frame).

The cast was Dr. Mark Greene (Anthony Edwards), Doug Ross (George Clooney), Susan Lewis (Sherry Stringfield), Peter Benton (Eriq LaSalle), Carol Hathaway (Julianna Margulies), and John Carter (Naah Wylie). Other fictional doctors are shown in the splash panel, such as George C. Scott from The Hospital and Alan Alda from M*A*S*H. Before this, Stringfield had appeared in NYPD Blue.
Many of these panels are vaudeville jokes about hospitals that have nothing to do with the program. Portrayed in the next to last panel is Robert Young as Marcus Welby. Who's the other guy? Tom Cruise? Charlie Sheen?
The term 'Oriental' was outdated even in 1995. Pictured in the foreground in the middle are Ben Casey and Dr.Kildare, the original Dr. McDreamys. St. Elsewhere was a TV medical drama before this.
In the final panel is a caricature of Mandy Patinkin.
In the 80s there was a sitcom also called E/R which coincidentally also starred George Clooney.

It's James Brolin, who played Welby's assistant.
