Robert McCall (Edward Woodward) was an operative for "The Company" who came out of retirement solving small-time cases in New York City through a phone number in a classified ad.
Detective Smalls (Ron O'Neal) was a detective that often helped McCall with his cases.
Bernhard Goetz was a citizen who became an overnight hero for being a one-time subway vigilante in
the eighties, eventually arrested for owning a gun without a permit. He was often compared to Paul Keresy, the Charles Bronson character of the Death Wish movies, also pictured here.
