HARSKY AND STUTCH

STARSKY & HUTCH
ABC 1975-1979

HARSKY & STUTCH
MAD #185, September 1976
w: Lou Silverstone
a: Angelo Torres

Action cop TV series about David Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser), tough guy from Brooklyn, and Kenneth Hutchinson (David Soul), the more bookish one from Minnesota, working in a California city loosely based on Los Angeles. Their supervisor was Captain Harold Dobey (Bernie Hamilton).
Starsky and Hutch often got their tips from Huggy Bear (Antonio Fargas), who had his ear to the streets and also owned a bar called The Pits.
Fargas was sort of associated with MAD later when he had a part in Up the Academy, their attempt at a movie.

BARFSKY AND CLUTCH
Cracked #134, August 1976
a: John Severin
Steve McQueen's in the third panel claiming the car chase is a ripoff of Bullitt.
“Cover up” was of course a reference to Watergate, but Agnew was too full of scandals of his own to be involved, and neither were in office by the time this parody came out.
I don't get why the last suspect is Colonel Sanders, other than that the other ones were recognizable celebrities, or that whiskey is considered Southern.
SLOBSKY AND HUNCH
Crazy #21, November 1976
w: Len Herman
a: Murad Gumen

Pop's Choc'Lit Shop was the malt shop where Archie and his gang would hang out.
That one cop looks a bit like Gene Wilder, but I don't think it's supposed to be.
From Crazy #47, February 1979. If I thought they had a budget, I'd think Cracked and Crazy editors paid Anita Bryant to be pretend to an anti-gay activist just so they could have something to make jokes about.
