Charly (Cliff Robertson) is a mentally deficient man who's in night school where his teacher Alice (Claire Bloom) is helping him with the most basic skills.
Charly gets news from Alice that at the institute where she teaches, they've chosen him for a new experimental surgery that could improve his intelligence.
The surgery is not shown in the movie, but portrayal of it is gone through at much detail here.
The surgery works and makes Charly more intelligent. One unforeseen effect is that he also now has a sex drive, and doesn't understand doctor/client boundaries. However, the teacher he comes onto reciprocates.
After the results of the surgery are displayed before an assembly of doctors, the effects wear off and he becomes simple again.
What the parody fails to mention is Charly tells the audience of doctors he knows the effects will wear off because it happened to Algernon, the mouse the experimental surgery was also performed on. The movie is based on a book called Flowers for Algernon. It also leaves out a large part showing him working as a janitor at a factory and not understanding his co-workers are making fun of him.
I couldn't find any trailer online, and I know most of you wouldn't want to sit through a full-length movie, so here's a fan-made trailer.
