MAD'S "KARATE MOVIE" PRODUCER OF THE YEAR
MAD #167, June 1974

Even though this article could be said to reference 100 movies in the "chopsocky" genre, Five Fingers of Death (a/k/a King Boxer) and Enter the Dragon were the first two major studio releases to launch the glut that would last at least ten years, with movies mostly made in Hong Kong and imported here, some big-budget ones released by Hollywood and starring Bruce Lee, but usually from grade-Z studios and released to grindhouses with the hopes you'd mistake them for the more prestigious ones.
The interview is conducted by Mike Wallace.
I was telling someone recently about how the average person thinks anything with caricatures is by Jack Davis and they said that's true, and it's like how they've noticed people think any kind of jazzy piano is from Peanuts. That's it. That's the story. I was just reminded of it because of Jack Davis.
