FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR
1990-1996 NBC
STALE PRINCE OF BELCH AIR
MAD # 303, July 1991
w: Stan Hart
a: Mort Drucker
TV debut of now famous actor Will Smith, who started as the rapper Fresh Prince, who established the premise of the sitcom in his theme song. Basically, he was a teenager living in a rough neighborhood in West Philadelphia and got into trouble with a local gang, so his mother protected him by sending him to live with his aunt and uncle in the wealthy Los Angeles neighborhood of Bel Air, so the humor was all about him being a fish out of water.
The bottom of the spread has the cast of The Beverly Hillbillies in the antique car, but also Nick Nolte and Mike the dog from Down and Out in Beverly Hills
The family had a butler whose name was Butler (Joseph Marcell). Will is often at odds with his vain and conservative cousin Carlton (Alfonso Ribiero). His uncle Philip Banks (James Avery) is a lawyer and aunt Vivian (Janet Hubert) is a professor.
When Will Smith was just a rapper in the late 80s, he was considered "safe" as opposed to groups like NWA or 2 Live Crew.
There were three other cousins not included here .

I'm not sure who Bummy is supposed to be.

This one's a long shot, but in the Cracked parody, is Will Smith's mom meant to be Humpty Hump?
