THE OLDEN GIRLS
MAD #263, June 1986
w: Arnie & Jay Kogen
a: Angelo Torres
Sitcom about four women who live together in a rest home in Miami. The cast was Dorothy (Bea Arthur), Rose (Betty White), Blanche (Rue McClanahan), and Dorothy's mother Sophia (Estelle Getty).
Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan were together on Maude ten years earlier. Betty White, now 99, is the only member of the cast still alive. Estelle Getty was actually younger than Bea Arthur. Rue McClanahan was the same age I am now because people aged faster then.
THE MOLDIN GIRLS
Cracked #222, September 1986
w: Stu Schwartzberg
a: Marie Severin
The cops here are from Miami Vice.
They have a cameo by Mary Tyler Moore here. They make a reference to her attempt at doing a comeback show in the 80s but don't mention that Betty White co-starred on her original 70s sitcom.
A-Z GUIDE TO MOVIES AND TV SHOWS PARODIED BY MAD, CRACKED, CRAZY, ETC. UP TO 1996. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS. SPOILERS AND OTHER NON-SEQUITURS, TOO. SOMETIMES THESE THINGS HAVE WORDS OR SITUATIONS WE DON'T USE ANYMORE. YOU KNOW, 'CAUSE THEY'RE OLD.

“ but don't mention that Betty White co-starred on her original 70s sitcom.”
ReplyDeleteBetty White says “I think I know her from somewhere” which I assume is a reference.
Cracked spoof, page 4: Telly Savalas, yes, but who's the other guy? He's too bland-looking to pin down. Maybe Robert Wagner?
ReplyDeletePage 5: the last panel includes Milton Berle, Raymond Burr, Don Rickles, Leonard Nimoy, Bert Parks, and Alfred E. Neuman (in a domino mask?).
