Seymour Mednick was Humbug's attempt at a mascot, though it was only used as a go-to name.

The end of the Humbug story refers to Mafia boss Umberto "Albert" Anastasia, who had been assassinated in a barber shop the year before, clearing the way for Carlo Gambino to take over.
