HIGHWAY TO HEAVING

HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN
1984-1989 NBC
MAD #262, April 1986
w: Dick DeBartolo
a: Mort Drucker

Highway to Heaven was an anthology show about Jonathan Smith (Michael Landon), a guardian angel who helped various people on Earth with the help of Mark Gordon (Victor French).
The signs on the saloon are all references to Bonanza, Landon's first series. He also previously starred on Little House on the Prairie.
Benchley, a newspaper comic strip character of Drucker's, is in a crowd scene in the first panel. The bar owner is Don Rickles.
The same elephant gag was used at the end of the 1952 Daffy Duck/Porky Pig cartoon Fool Coverage.
