Most likely a parody of Cliffhanger, Ace Ventura (Jim Carrey) is on a rescue mission to save a pet raccoon and the cable breaks.
He's so scarred by the experience he quits being a pet detective and becomes a monk, but is hired by Filton Greenwall (Ian McNiece) for his services to rescue a Shikaka bat needed for the marriage ceremony of the warring Wachati and Watchootoo tribes. When he insists he's given up his profession, he's told he'll be offered money, and leaves the monestary right away. All the other priests are relieved to see him go.
In the fourth panel is supposed to be George C. Scott. Coincidentally Jim Carrey also played Scrooge in a later version of A Christmas Carol.
Spitting on each other is a sign of affection among the Watchootoo tribe.
Ace falls in love with the princess. He also suspects Quinn, who owns a safari park, is the one who has stolen the bat.
Ace finds out Quinn is being set up. He runs across thugs from Australia.
Ace is mistaken for the enemy by the Watchootoos and has to go through many challenges to gain their trust, the last of which is to fight their warrior (Tommy Davidson) who appears to be weaker because of his size, but turns out to be stronger.
Ace deduces that the real bat thief is Cadby (Simon Callow), the ambassador, who took it because the guano is a valuable synthetic. Having now rescued the bat, he has returned it to the tribes and the marriage ceremony can go forward.
“When Nature Calls”, the polite term for saying you have to go to the bathroom, was also the title of a much funnier Troma-produced Kentucky Fried Movie-type movie.

On page 5, the guy who tells Ace he's heading toward a waterfall is Kevin Costner from Waterworld.
