ALL-TRASH ANYTHING GOES

ALL-STAR ANYTHING GOES
1977-1978 SYNDICATED

ALL-TRASH ANYTHING GOES
Trash #2, June 1978
a: Walter Brogan

Never heard of this one until now. Evolved from prime time network game show called Almost Anything Goes!, contestants competed in the wild, an American version of a British show called It's a Knockout!. It became a syndicated show with celebrities hosted by Bill Boggs, sort of a primitive version of Battle of the Network Stars with stars of lesser-known programs.

Co-host here is former president Gerald Ford, who had been a college football player.
Billy Peanut is Billy Carter, brother of president Jimmy. The other contestants are Charlie's Angels stars Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith, and Cheryl Ladd, plus an average woman who is ugly-shamed.
I guess those are supposed to be caricatures of people in the last panel? Dom DeLuise? Some football player? Phyllis Diller? Cloris Leachman? Hard to tell sometimes.
And in the last panel are Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon.
Billy Carter was a celebrity in his own right for his own brand of beer, unopened cans of which go for a lot on eBay. It has nothing to do with any parody, but I will post a video of anyone who opens a can of Billy Beer from 1977 and drinks it in front of the camera.
