SNORIN' EXPOSURE
MAD #308, January 1992
w: Stan Hart
a: Angelo Torres
This series was about a doctor, Joel Fleischman (Rob Morrow), who was given a full scholarship to medical school by the state of Alaska, on the condition that he practice in the state, and wound up in the small town of Cicely. It focused on the local characters there. Ruth-Anne (Peg Phillips) owns the local store. Local Natives are Marilyn (Elaine Miles), Joel's receptionist and Ed (Darren E. Burrows), who does odd jobs around the town. Maurice (Barry Corbin) is a multimillionaire retiree that owns most of the property in the town, and Chris (John Corbett) is the local hipster and radio DJ. Holling (John Cullum) owns the local restaurant, Shelly (Cynthia Geary) is a waitress there, and they're a married couple with a fifty-year age difference. Joel has a flirty “will they or won't they” relationship with pilot Maggie O'Connell (Janine Turner),
The show would begin with a moose wandering through the town. In case the Bullwinkle reference wasn't subtle enough, it has “Jay Ward Productions” stamped on it.
The man at the end in the second panel is MAD art director Leonard Brenner.
Here's the requisite star of the show reading the issue with their parody but this is an instance where they're not pretending they're upset or vowing revenge or threatening to sue.
