During the time I lived in Los Angeles, I met comedy writer Aaron Lee a few times, and conversation always inevitably turned to growing up with MAD. Those four or five times, he mentioned that this particular panel from one of the first issues he read made a big impression on him, and was probably what got him started in comedy.
The movie stars Gary Coleman as a homeless kid who lives in a train station in Chicago and has a knack for betting on horses. The movie is available in its entirety on YouTube (above) and these panels are from the article MAD's Academy Awards Show. The category was “Go Back To TV Where You Belong”.
