OWEN MARSHALL, COUNSELOR AT LAW
ABC 1971-1974
MAD #159, June 1973
w: Lou Silverstone
a: Angelo Torres
The basic premise was simply that Owen Marshall (Arthur Hill) was a defense attorney) with his assistant Jess Brandon (Lee Majors).
Owen's secretary was Freida (Joan Darling).
When Memorex cassette tapes were first introduced, their campaign was that their recording was so close to the real thing, that if a voice that could break glass, so could that voice when recorded.
Reindeer is caricatured as Burt Reynolds. Whenever he was used, they always drew him in the same pose as his nude Cosmopolitan centerfold. There's a poster of Cosmo publisher Helen Gurley Brown in the background, just in case the joke was too subtle.
Owen Marshall's daughter (Christine Matchett) occasionally appeared.

In the 'Equal Time' article, Marshall's client looks to me like Scatman Crothers.
ReplyDeleteNo, I think I was wrong. He looks more like Woody Strode.
