PEGGY GOT STEWED AND MARRIED
MAD #270, April 1987
w: Stan Hart
a: Mort Drucker
Peggy Sue (Kathleen Turner) is attending her 25-year high school reunion and trying to avoid her high school sweetheart Charlie (Nicolas Cage) who she married and is now separated from. She's been crowned queen of the reunion and faints, transporting her back to 1960. They all think she's still a teenager but she has the mind of a 43-year-old, getting drunk in front of her family and realizing how futile most of her classes were.
Peggy Sue has befriended Richard (Barry Miller, who was in Saturday Night Fever), the class nerd, because he's the smartest student in school and would know if it's possible that she really traveled back in time. He goes on to become rich and famous and she helps him knowing what inventions will exist in the future. She has adult female urges and tries to convince Charlie to have sex, which he refuses. She starts going out with Michael (Kevin J. O'Connor), the class loner beatnik, upsetting Charlie.
Charlie and all the guys want to marry her and she's just confused and runs away. She visits her grandparents before they die, and confides she's from the future. Her grandfather happens to be a member of a secret lodge that performs time travel ceremonies and will bring her back, but she gts kidnapped by Charlie and wakes up from her fainting spell in the hospital and back in the present, where Charlie is by her side and no longer a cheating loser. In this, they are interrupted by Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown from Back to the Future. The last panel has characters from other time-travel and dream movies and TV shows, such as Woody Allen in Sleeper, Victoria Principal in Dallas, Christopher Reeve, Judy Garland, and Michael J. Fox. They have tags noting where they're from for the three people who wouldn't know.
