Two part mini-series based on a book by Stephen King about a flight where the passengers wake up to find the crew has disappeared.

The passengers were Bob Jenkins (Dean Stockwell), Laurel Stevenson (Patricia Wettig), Nick Hopewell (Mark Lindsay Chapman), Don Gaffney (Frankie Faison), Rudy Warwick (Baxter Harris), Bethany Simms (Kimber Riddle), Ace Kausner (Christopher Collet), Dinah Bellman (Kate Maberly) Craig Toomey (Bronson Pinchot) has flashbacks of his deceased father Roger (John Greisemer). Brian Engle (David Morse) just happened to be a captain and is qualified to fly a plane.

The flight was headed to Boston, but lands in Bangor, Maine, which happens to be where Stephen King lives. The Contract with America was Newt Gingrich's attempt at a promise to the people from the Republican party.

They get to the Bangor airport which is abandoned and nobody has their senses of smell or taste, and the area is haunted by the Langoliers.

Stephen King makes an appearance as Craig Toomey's boss in one of his visions.

Everybody reboards thr plane and things return to normal
