THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS (1992)

THE LIST OF THE MOSTHOKUM
Cracked #279, March 1993
w: Rich Kriegel (Lou Silverstone)
a: John Severin
They obviously chose Severin for this one because of his experience with comics with historical war and Indian settings, something he was just as much known for as for Cracked.
This all takes place during the French and Indian War, which was a battle of the British and the French. The lead character is named Hawkeye (Daniel Day-Lewis), so in the opening panel introducing the characters, they made him Hawkye from M*A*S*H. The other characters here are Cora (Madeleine Stowe) and Alice Munro (Jodhi May), daughters of Col. Edward Munro (Maurice Roeves), commander of Fort Henry. Major Duncan Heyward (Steven Waddington) works under him and has been assigned the task of escorting Munro's daughters to him. Duncan wants to marry Cora. Magua (Wes Studi) is a supposedly a Mohawk assigned to guide them to Fort Henry but is actually the enemy of the Huron tribe. Chingachgook (Russell Means) , his son Uncas (Eric Schweig), and adopted son Hawkeye are on the side of the British.
Under Siege was an action movie with Steven Seagal at that time.
There's still controversy today over sports teams being named after American Indians or tribes.
This was originally a book by James Fenimore Cooper and adapted to the screen multiple times.
