RE-DESIGNING WOMEN
MAD #279, June 1988
w: Dick DeBartolo
a: Angelo Torres

Sitcom about four single middle-age women who run the Sugarbaker Associates, an interior design firm in Georgia. It's owned by Julia (Dixie Carter). The office manager is Charlene (Jean Smart), partner Mary Jo (Annie Potts), and Suzanne (Delta Burke), sister of Julia. Anthony (Meschach Taylor) was gofer and token male of the show.

I'm not sure of the significance of the picture of the Chicago Bulls coach or who it is. My guess is he was married or related to one of the cast members. Drop me a line if you know.
Not sure if "Rick" is meant to be a caricature of anyone either.

The sight gags of the Confederate flag and the Klan may be true about the South but wouldn't be used today.
Ted Turner is one of Atlanta's eligible bachelors in the sample book.
Guys making passes wouldn't go over today either, except in the context of this show where the topic was often issues like this.

The punchline is that the cast is encroaching on the territory of The Golden Girls, another TV sitcom about four older widowed women. Bea Arthur's character was named Dorothy.
