THE DEFECTIVE

THE DETECTIVE (1968)
dir: Gordon Douglas

THE DEFECTIVE
Sick #66, March 1969
w: Fred Wolfe (Paul Laikin)
a: Harry "The Professor" Borgman

This parody doesn't stick to the story as much as this story is about how the detective is Frank Sinatra.
In real life, Sinatra was married to Mia Farrow, so she's on his mind in this parody. He has problems with his movie wife (Lee Remick) who's a nymphomaniac that has male friends he doesn't approve of.

A man is found stabbed to death, and this is the case the force is working on. The suspected killer is a gay man, giving the writers of this piece an excuse to make jokes at the expense of the LGBTQ+ community, when such a thing was still snickered at by mainstream society. Tiny Tim, a singer famous for his effeminate mannerisms (and not in the movie) is lumped in with them.
A man involved in the case has committed suicide after realizing he is a homosexual. This was considered "adult" for the time. He and others are combined into one character for this parody.
Fun fact: Mia Farrow was originally cast for a role in this which she had to turn down for Rosemary's Baby. This angered Sinatra enough to divorce her, because nobody messes with the Chairman of the Board.
