Animated film produced by Tim Burton, where a town celebrates Halloween every year led by Jack Skellington (Chris Sarandon, spoken/Danny Elfman, sung), the Pumpkin King. Jack is tired and bored by celebrating Halloween every year. He and his ghost dog Zero seek something new. Sally (Catherine O'Hara) is a woman who lives in the town and can detach her body parts.

Sally was created by Doctor Finkelstein (William Hickey), the reason she is stitched together. While walking through the forest and going through doors, Jack discovers a land where everyone celebrates Christmas and can't wait to report about it to everyone.

Jack has the people of his town duplicate what he's found out about Christmas and seeks the aid of Lock (Paul Reubens), Shock (Catherine O'Hara), and Barrel (Danny Elfman), who help kidnap Santa Claus (Ed Ivory) so Jack can replace him.

Jack doesn't quite get Christmas, and in being Santa, ends up terrorizing the children he intended to bring joy to. In Halloween Town, Sally senses something wrong, then she and the real Santa are captured by the Oogie Boogie Man (Ken Page).

Jack is shot down by the army when parents keep reporting in impostor. He returns to Halloween Town, and brings Santa back where he belongs, and realizes he himself belongs in his place as well, then exposes the Oogie Boogie man as just a sack of flour full of worms. Then Jack and Sally get it on.

There are cameos throughout of the Clintons, Bart Simpson, Beavis and Butthead, Hot Stuff, Elmo, Pugsley Addams, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Beetlejuice, Charlie Brown, Linus, Broom Hilda, Mr. Uggly, Casper, Pogo, Albert Alligator, The Grinch, Frosty, Rudolph, Ross Perot, Bullwinkle, and others too numerous to mention.
