Splash panel homage to the original MAD Superman parody, which also had the artist's signature inside a poster on the side of a building. The series was about Andrew Clements (Jerry O'Connell), a high school student who lives next door to Dr. Jeffcoate (Derek McGrath), who is the only one that knows of his superpowers that he received accidentally. The story begins with Clark Kent (Gerard Christopher) at Siegel University, where he is a reporter for the school paper. The Superboy series took place at Shuster University, which are references to Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster..

Superboy was classmates with Lana Lang (Stacy Haiduk) and enemies with Lex Luthor (Sherman Howard). Andrew used the air in spray cans in order to fly.

Andrew had a sister Erin.
