Spinoff of The Mary Tyler Moore Show but unlike the others this was dramatic and no reference was ever made his previous career as a newsman, though sometimes they made reference to his previous career as an alcoholic.
Lou (Ed Asner) was editor of The Los Angeles Tribune. His crew were reporters Joe Rossi (Robert Walden) and Billie Newman (Linda Kelsey). Their photographer was “Animal” (Daryl Anderson). The managing editor was Charles Hume (Mason Adams) and thecity editor was Art Donovan (Jack Bannon).
Publisher of the paper was Mrs. Pynchon (Narcy Marchand).
The German edition has their translation of the article on their cover.

Mary Tyler Moore did attempt to make a comeback various sitcoms and a variety show. Co-star Gavin McLeod starred on The Love Boat, which we'll get to in a few days.
