INTRAVENOUS WITH THE VAMPIRE
MAD #335, May 1995
w: Stan Hart
a: Mort Drucker

A reporter (Christian Slater) interviews Louis (Brad Pitt) who is over two hundred years old and tells his life story.
In New Orleans, after his wife and child have died, Louis has no idea what to do with his life but one day meets a vampire named Lestat (Tom Cruise) who attacks Louis and takes him under his wing, making him now a vampire. Louis is hesitant to adjust to the new way of life, he can't bring himself to attack humans, and in order to survive on blood, must eat rats.
One day as Louis is walking through the streets he meets a girl Claudia (Kirsten Dunst) whose mother his succumbed to the plague, and brings her home, with the both of them raising her. Lestat has her feed on him, making her immortal so she can be raised by the two of them to prevent a “divorce”. While Louis loves her like a father, Lestat trains her to be like him, and is pleased when she bings home kills for him.
Eventually Claudia resents being made and kills Lestat, feeding him poisoned blood and slitting his throat. Louis and Claudia dump him into the river, and plan to leave for Europe to start a new life, but Lestat returns, having subsisted on swamp creatures. They kill him again before embarking on France by setting him on fire. In France, they kidnap a woman and make her a vampire so Claudia can have a mother. The other vampires Louis has met find out he has broken the code to never kill another vampire and punish him by nailing him in a coffin and exposing Claudia and her new mother to light. A sympathetic Armand (Antonio Banderas), who is not shown here, frees him and after a while he returns to New Orleans. In the twentieth century, he reunites with Lestat who is now a former shell of himself. Louis tells his story, after which the reporter wants to be made. Louis refuses, scares the reporter, who flees, and as he's driving away and has composed himself, is snuck up on by Lestat.

This didn't make the cover here in the U.S. But did for the Mexican edition.

  1. At the end of the Cracked parody, one of the corpses is Letterman regular Larry 'Bud' Melman.
